Our System 41 roller pet screen for single doors uses a heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester mesh that is significantly more resistant to claws, pushing and repeated contact than standard fly screen. Custom made to your exact measurements in our UK factory. The cassette mounts to one side of the door frame; pull the screen across and it seals magnetically on the opposite side.
Brilliant product — precise fit, great qualityBrilliant product. Fits the door space precisely and is really good quality. We got the durable pet mesh which my cats have yet to break. We will definitely be buying more.

Excellent quality — still as good as newExcellent quality, work perfectly. The ones I put up last year are still as good as the new ones this year. The team corrected a minor issue promptly.
Standard fly screen mesh tears easily when cats scratch or dogs push against it. Our pet mesh uses a heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester that is significantly more resistant to claws, contact and impact — while still blocking the same insects as our standard fly screen. The same System 41 cassette, mounted to the side of the door frame, pulling across the opening. Select your mesh below.
If you're worried about standard fly screen mesh being torn or damaged by your pets, our pet screen is the right choice. All four mesh types use the identical System 41 cassette and door frame profiles. Just select below.
Most customers fit their roller pet screen in around 20 minutes. Here's how it works.

Need pet-resistant protection for French doors or windows as well? The same heavy-duty pet mesh is available across the full System 41 range. Note: screw fix only — no-drill is not available with pet mesh.
Keep insects out. Keep the mesh intact — even with pets.
Standard fly screen mesh isn't built for households with cats or dogs. A single scratch from a determined cat, or a dog pushing its nose against the mesh on a warm day, can tear or deform a standard screen within a season. Our roller pet screen for single doors uses the same System 41 retractable cassette — but with a heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester mesh that handles the contact that comes with living with animals.
It isn't the weave count that sets pet mesh apart — it's the material and weight. Our pet mesh uses vinyl-coated polyester rather than fibreglass, making it significantly more resistant to deformation under claw pressure, repeated pushing and the general wear that pets inflict on standard screens. It still blocks the same insects as our standard fly screen. The difference is durability, not filtration.
The cassette mounts vertically to one side of the door frame. The screen pulls horizontally across the opening and seats magnetically into the side profile on the opposite side. To retract, pull the handle back — the spring-loaded cassette draws the mesh in with a smooth, braked return. When the door is closed, the screen sits fully retracted inside the cassette, protected from pet contact entirely.
The screen closes magnetically, which holds it reliably under normal use. In homes with dogs or larger cats, we strongly recommend adding the optional pair of sliding bolts. These lock the screen in the deployed position, dropping into keepers fixed to the top and bottom guide, so the screen cannot be pushed open by a pet pressing against it.
Many of our customers happily use our pet screen to keep smaller pets indoors whilst allowing fresh air to circulate. The primary function is to keep out insects — with the added benefit of being more durable than standard mesh when pets make contact with it. Our pet mesh is a heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester that is around three times stronger than standard fly screen mesh, resistant to tears and punctures, and thicker — though still flexible enough for use in the retractable cassette system.
However, pets can be determined and strong creatures. If you want to be certain your pet stays inside, we would always recommend using supplementary measures alongside the screen.
The System 41 single door screen is suitable for both inward and outward opening doors. The system was originally designed for European use, where doors typically open inward — and in those cases the screen is mounted externally. For outward opening doors, the screen is mounted internally instead.
Whether to recess fix or face fix depends on the door frame. If there is sufficient depth within the reveal to accommodate the cassette, recess fixing is the cleaner option. If not, the cassette and magnetic side profile can be face fixed to the door frame surround. One important consideration when face fixing: the cassette and magnetic side profile should be positioned directly around the opening — we'd recommend not allowing any additional overlap — otherwise the handle cannot clear the fixing surface. If you're unsure how to measure for face fixing, contact us before ordering.
The no-drill fixing option is not available with pet mesh — screw fix is required for all pet screen configurations.

Roller Pet Screen for Single Door and Child Safety
Child Safe By Design - Handle on Sliding Bar: Roller Pet Screen for Single Door can be operated using discrete handle on the sliding bar. We call this ‘child safe by design’ as there are no looped cords or chains to operate the blind.
About Child Safety
At newblinds.co.uk, child safety is of paramount importance. If left hanging freely, chains and cords from blinds can pose a direct threat to children. For this reason, we are working towards all of our products being cord-less or chain-free and therefore “safe by design”.
Where it is not yet feasible to supply a product that is “safe by design”, we ensure that the product is fully compliant with Child Safety legislation. Not only do we ensure that, where necessary, our products are supplied/fitted with child safety cleats/devices, but we also supply, free of charge, these items to our previous customers.
