Our System 41 roller pet screen for single doors uses a heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester mesh that is significantly more resistant to claws, pushing and repeated contact than standard fly screen. Custom made to your exact measurements in our UK factory. The cassette mounts to one side of the door frame; pull the screen across and it seals magnetically on the opposite side.

Measure Your Door Opening
Measure the width and height of the opening. Download our Technical Specification (PDF) for dimensional guidance. The cassette is installed on one side of the door and the magnetic side profile on the other. Guide rails run at the top and bottom. Maximum width for pet mesh is 1150mm.

Configure on the Product Page
Enter your measurements and choose frame colour (white, brown or anthracite grey). Select your fixing method — recess or face fix. We strongly recommend adding the optional pair of sliding bolts — these lock the screen in the deployed position and significantly reduce the chance of a pet pushing the screen open. Note: screw fix is required — no-drill is not available with pet mesh.

We Make It in Our UK Factory
Your pet screen is hand-built to your exact specification using heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester mesh. The cassette, top and bottom guides, and the magnetic closing profile all arrive cut to size and ready to fit. You'll need only a drill and screwdriver.

Pull Across When You Need Fresh Air
Grip the handle on the sliding bar and pull the screen horizontally across the opening — it seats magnetically into the U-profile on the opposite side. Pull the handle back to retract — the spring-loaded cassette draws the mesh back with a smooth, braked return. The screen stays fully out of the way when the door is closed.

Standard fly screen mesh isn't built for households with cats or dogs. A single scratch from a determined cat, or a dog pushing its nose against the mesh on a warm day, can tear or deform a standard screen within a season. Our roller pet screen for single doors uses the same System 41 retractable cassette — but with a heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester mesh that handles the contact that comes with living with animals.
What Makes Pet Mesh Different
It isn't the weave count that sets pet mesh apart — it's the material and weight. Our pet mesh uses vinyl-coated polyester rather than fibreglass, making it significantly more resistant to deformation under claw pressure, repeated pushing and the general wear that pets inflict on standard screens. It still blocks the same insects as our standard fly screen. The difference is durability, not filtration.
How the Door Screen Works
The cassette mounts vertically to one side of the door frame. The screen pulls horizontally across the opening and seats magnetically into the side profile on the opposite side. To retract, pull the handle back — the spring-loaded cassette draws the mesh in with a smooth, braked return. When the door is closed, the screen sits fully retracted inside the cassette, protected from pet contact entirely.
The Sliding Bolt Option — Strongly Recommended
The screen closes magnetically, which holds it reliably under normal use. In homes with dogs or larger cats, we strongly recommend adding the optional pair of sliding bolts. These lock the screen in the deployed position, dropping into keepers fixed to the top and bottom guide, so the screen cannot be pushed open by a pet pressing against it.
Will a Pet Screen Keep My Pet Inside?
Many of our customers happily use our pet screen to keep smaller pets indoors whilst allowing fresh air to circulate. The primary function is to keep out insects — with the added benefit of being more durable than standard mesh when pets make contact with it. Our pet mesh is a heavy-duty vinyl-coated polyester that is around three times stronger than standard fly screen mesh, resistant to tears and punctures, and thicker — though still flexible enough for use in the retractable cassette system.
However, pets can be determined and strong creatures. If you want to be certain your pet stays inside, we would always recommend using supplementary measures alongside the screen.
Inward and Outward Opening Doors
The System 41 single door screen is suitable for both inward and outward opening doors. The system was originally designed for European use, where doors typically open inward — and in those cases the screen is mounted externally. For outward opening doors, the screen is mounted internally instead.
Recess Fix or Face Fix
Whether to recess fix or face fix depends on the door frame. If there is sufficient depth within the reveal to accommodate the cassette, recess fixing is the cleaner option. If not, the cassette and magnetic side profile can be face fixed to the door frame surround. One important consideration when face fixing: the cassette and magnetic side profile should be positioned directly around the opening — we'd recommend not allowing any additional overlap — otherwise the handle cannot clear the fixing surface. If you're unsure how to measure for face fixing, contact us before ordering.
Screw Fix Only
The no-drill fixing option is not available with pet mesh — screw fix is required for all pet screen configurations.
