Our System 41 roller fly screen for single doors is custom made to your exact measurements in our UK factory. The cassette mounts vertically to one side of the door frame — pull the screen horizontally across the opening and it seals magnetically on the opposite side. Retracts completely when the door is closed.

Bought one, then ordered three moreI bought one to test it, then ordered three more. They look great and work brilliantly — slide smoothly and lock in position every time.
Our standard 18×16 fibreglass mesh blocks flies, wasps, spiders and common UK insects while letting air flow freely through the opening. The mesh is PVC-coated fibreglass in charcoal — weatherproof, unobtrusive, and with minimal effect on your view or the light coming through the door. Four mesh types are available across the same System 41 cassette — select the one that suits your needs below.
Our standard roller fly screen uses an 18×16 fibreglass weave — the same proven mesh we've supplied since 1994. All four mesh types use the identical System 41 cassette and door frame profiles. Just select below.
Most customers fit their roller door fly screen in around 20 minutes. Here's how it works.

Need fly screen protection for French doors or windows as well? The same cassette, mesh and profiles are available across the full range.
A retractable fly screen for your door — there when you need it, invisible when you don't.
A fly screen for a door works differently to a window screen. Rather than rolling down from the top, the System 41 door cassette mounts vertically against one side of the door frame. The screen pulls horizontally across the opening — from the cassette side to the opposite jamb — and the closing bar seats magnetically into a U-profile fixed to that jamb. The result is a taut, fully sealed screen across the entire door aperture, with brushpile strips running along the top and bottom guides to seal the perimeter against insects.
The cassette — 41mm deep and 51mm wide — is fixed vertically to one side of the door frame, either into the recess or face-fixed to the front of the frame. The top guide runs along the head of the door frame and the bottom guide runs along the floor — both horizontal, 30mm tall, with brushpile seals that prevent insects from entering above and below the mesh. When you want to use the screen, grip the colour-coded handle on the sliding bar and draw it across. To retract, pull the handle back — the spring-loaded cassette returns the mesh with a smooth, braked recoil so it doesn't snap back hard. The closing bar clicks into the magnetic U-profile on the opposite side, holding the screen under tension. To retract, pull the handle bar back — the spring-loaded cassette draws the mesh in and holds it there until you need it again.
The System 41 single door screen is suitable for both inward and outward opening doors. The system was originally designed for European use, where doors typically open inward — and in those cases the screen is mounted externally, covering the opening from outside. For outward opening doors, the screen is mounted internally instead.
Whether to recess fix or face fix depends on the door frame. If there is sufficient depth within the reveal to accommodate the cassette, recess fixing is the cleaner option. If not, the cassette and magnetic side profile can be face fixed — either proud of the recess or directly to the door frame surround.
One important consideration when face fixing: the sliding bar has handles on both sides, and the screen needs to travel the full width of the opening to deploy and retract. This means the cassette and magnetic side profile should be positioned directly around the opening — we'd recommend not allowing any additional overlap — otherwise the handle of the screen cannot clear the fixing surface. You really want your handle to be accessible from both inside and outside, whether the screen is deployed or retracted into the cassette. If you're unsure how to measure for face fixing, contact us before ordering.
An optional pair of sliding bolts can be added to the sliding bar that is used to pull the screen across the door — a locking bolt is positioned at the top and the bottom of that sliding bar and these bolts slide into keepers which are fixed to the top and bottom guide, holding the screen in the deployed position. This securely holds the screen in position which is ideal for situations where accidental collision from pets or humans may dislodge it from the magnetic side profile.
The top and bottom guides are pre-fitted with brushpile strips that run the full width of the opening. When the screen is deployed, these create a continuous seal along both horizontal edges — preventing insects from entering through any gap between the mesh and the door frame above and below. The magnetic closing profile seals the leading edge of the screen on the side opposite the cassette. A well-fitted door screen has four sealed edges.
Every screen is hand-built in our UK factory to your exact measurements. The cassette, guides and closing profile are all cut to the specified width and drop of your door opening — there is no trimming on site and no compromises on fit. A screen that fits precisely also seals correctly: gaps at the edges defeat the purpose of the screen. See our Technical Specification (PDF) for dimensional guidance before ordering.
The single door System 41 screen is available with all four mesh options — standard insect, midge (20×30 weave), pet-resistant heavy-gauge, and pollen-filtering — all using the identical cassette and door profiles. Browse the mesh options above or visit:

Roller Fly Screen for Single Door and Child Safety
Child Safe By Design - Handle on Sliding Bar: Roller Fly Screen for Single Door can be operated using discrete handle on the sliding bar. We call this ‘child safe by design’ as there are no looped cords or chains to operate the blind.
About Child Safety
At newblinds.co.uk, child safety is of paramount importance. If left hanging freely, chains and cords from blinds can pose a direct threat to children. For this reason, we are working towards all of our products being cord-less or chain-free and therefore “safe by design”.
Where it is not yet feasible to supply a product that is “safe by design”, we ensure that the product is fully compliant with Child Safety legislation. Not only do we ensure that, where necessary, our products are supplied/fitted with child safety cleats/devices, but we also supply, free of charge, these items to our previous customers.
