Anthracite roller blinds offer a sleek and contemporary aesthetic that can complement any modern interior design scheme. This fabric pairs contemporary anthracite with nature incorporating a decorative pastel print which is suggestive of a woodland coppice

Their dark, rich colour provides a striking contrast that can make your windows a focal point of the room while also pairing well with a wide range of colour palettes.

Functionally, these blinds are versatile; they provide excellent light filtration, allowing you to adjust the ambience of your space with ease.

The colourfast material ensures they retain their deep charcoal hue without fading, and their durable design stands up to regular use, making them a practical choice for both home and office settings.

Additionally, their insulation properties help in temperature control, keeping rooms warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, which can contribute to energy savings.

Whether you're aiming for a minimalist vibe or just seeking a functional window treatment, anthracite roller blinds deliver both style and performance.

Can roller blinds be motorised for automated operation?

Yes, motorised roller blinds are available for those seeking automated operation. With motorisation options, customers can control their blinds using a smartphone app, voice assistant, smart home systems, or a dedicated remote control, adding convenience and modernity to their living spaces.

Can I control blinds from my phone or tablet?

Yes, there are several methods of controlling blinds from a smartphone or tablet. Obviously for any of these methods to work, you will need to buy electric blinds powered by mains or battery.

How easy it will be to set up smartphone control of your blinds will depend on the motor chosen. For example, Somfy blinds and Louvolite Blinds each require a separate hub which plugs into or connects to your internet router, to enable communication between your iOS or Android phone or tablet and the blinds.

In our opinion, the simplest set-up comes with our Shade Flow Bluetooth-enabled blinds. The motors have in-built Bluetooth, so you don't need a hub. All you need is an iOS (iPhone) or Android (Google) smartphone and the free application, which can be downloaded from the app store. Using the app, you can control your blinds directly - individually, by the room and in groups. You can even set up timers. The 'intelligence' of the system is embedded in the motor, rather than in a hub. So, even when you are not in your property, the timed operations will still work. Using Shade Flow, blinds can be dragged via the app to any position. Battery levels of the rechargeable motor batteries is displayed in the app, meaning you get a 'heads up' on when blind motors need to be recharged, rather than them simply whirring to a halt when you least expect it. Control of the blinds can also be shared with other people using a clever QR code.

Can roller blinds be installed on different window types?

Yes, roller blinds can be installed on various window types, including standard windows, bay windows, sliding and bi-fold doors. They offer versatility in terms of installation options, such as inside or outside the window recess, depending on the desired look and functionality.

Are roller blinds suitable for doors?

Roller blinds are a great product for doors of all types and sizes.

You should consider that there are two possible fixing methods - standard screw-fix and no-drill installation:

Screw-fix door roller blinds:

  • If you have an outward-opening door, standard screw-fix roller blinds can be top-fixed into the door recess. Or they can be face-fixed outside of the recess of the door.
  • If you have an inward-opening door, then a screw-fix roller blind can be face-fixed to the opening leaf of the door, so that the blind moves with the door itself.

No drill door roller blinds:

If you have a UPVC door system with internal beading, such as a single UPVC single-door, french or bi-fold door, then you could consider no-drill roller blinds for doors. A no-drill blind system, such as Perfect Fit roller blinds has clever brackets which slide between the glass and the beading. Once the brackets are in place, the roller blind simply clips onto the bracket. No DIY skills are required and they can be installed in minutes without the need for drilling or screwing.

Can roller blinds be used for both residential and commercial spaces?

Certainly! Roller blinds are suitable for both residential and commercial spaces. They offer privacy, light control, and a wide range of design options, making them popular for homes, offices, retail stores, restaurants, and more.

Does it matter if roller blinds are too long?

It doesn't matter if a roller blind's fabric is too long on the drop (height) dimension. Typically, an additional 400mm of fabric will be wrapped around the roller tube to ensure a secure fix between fabric and tube. If you order your blind slightly taller than is required, then the additional fabric can also be rolled onto the roller tube. If your blind is ordered too wide, then this might be a problem, if you are installing your blind within the window recess. If fixing outside of the recess, then extra width may not cause an issue if there is no restriction caused by obstructions near to the window recess.

How can I ensure I'm purchasing high-quality roller blinds?

When looking for high-quality roller blinds, consider factors such as the materials used, the reputation of the manufacturer or supplier, and customer reviews. Look for custom-made roller blinds made from durable materials and ensure they come with reliable mechanisms for smooth operation and longevity.

What are the best roller blinds for small Velux windows?

The best roller blinds for small Velux windows are blinds that are specifically designed for this brand of window. We offer blinds that are specifically designed and sized to fit the smaller sizes of VELUX windows. These can be manually operated or automated with solar powered motors.

What are click-to-fit blinds?

Click-to-fit blinds are a type of blind, such as perfect fit blinds, that are easy to install without the need for tools or drilling. Simple brackets that click onto the window frame are what hold them in place. Click-to-fit blinds such as perfect fit roller blinds are a good option for rental properties or for people who do not want to damage their walls or window frames.

How do roller blinds compare to other blinds in terms of energy efficiency?

Roller blinds are a fantastic choice as they provide good levels of insulation, light control and privacy. However, if you're looking for the most energy-efficient option, standard or electric honeycomb blinds may be your best bet. These are specially designed blinds trap air within their cellular structure, providing substantial insulation and saving on heating costs. We also offer roman blinds which have the option of thermal blackout linings, which are designed to retain heat in the winter months and keep your room cooler in the summer months. Nonetheless, the choice between roller blinds, roman blinds and electric honeycomb blinds often comes down to personal preference and specific requirements.

What are the best blinds for wide windows?

When choosing blinds for wide windows, there are many factors to consider, such as your needs and preferences, the style of your décor, and the amount of light you want to let in. Some of the best blinds for wide windows include roller blinds, venetian blinds, and Vertical blinds.

Can you supply roller blinds for Velux windows?

Yes, we certainly can. At NewBlinds.co.uk, we take pride in providing high-quality roller blinds for any type of window, ranging from standard home windows to large commercial building windows. We offer a great choice of blinds for Velux, available in various colours, to complement your home or office interiors. Can blackout roller blinds be made to measure?

Yes, you have the option to get made-to-measure blackout blinds. These blinds are crafted using special fabrics that effectively block out light, making them ideal for bedrooms, home theatres, or any space where light control and privacy are essential.

Are the roller blinds available for small windows?

Absolutely! We understand that windows come in various sizes, including smaller ones. That's why our range includes roller blinds specifically designed for small windows. You can find the perfect fit and style for even the most compact windows in your home.

Can you see through roller blinds at night?

It really depends on the type of fabric chosen for your roller blinds. Open weave screen or voile fabric will allow a view in through the blind at night, when it is dark outside, and when the lights are switched on inside. At the other end of the spectrum, thicker blackout roller blind fabrics will not allow any view through regardless of light conditions. Some light weight fabrics allow silhouetted shapes to be visible when it’s dark outside but the lights are switched on inside. If night time privacy is a concern, then you should avoid light weight or open weave and voile fabrics.

Are roller blinds hard to clean?

Since flat fabric cloth makes up the majority of roller blinds, spot-cleaning marks or dirt on roller blinds should not be difficult. You can use a vacuum including a nozzle with soft brush to remove any loose dust from the fabric and around the brackets and mechanism. You should always check the manufacturer's instructions for specific instructions relating to cleaning each fabric. The good news is that the flat vertical fabric of a roller blind does not have any horizontal surfaces or grooves to collect dust or dirt, so cleaning requirements should be less than other blind types.

Are roller blinds energy efficient?

A practical and affordable approach to improving your home's energy efficiency is using roller blinds. The best solution is to pick a cloth that blocks out light. A blackout blind will completely block out light and significantly reduce the amount of heat that enters a room when it is closed. Some privacy or open weave screen fabrics also have reflective pearlescent or metalised backings that reflect heat, keeping your room cool in summer and warm in summer - therefore reducing heating and cooling costs.

Are roller blinds good for privacy?

When roller blinds are rolled down, they are a wonderful choice for privacy blinds. If privacy is important, then select an opaque privacy or blackout fabric, rather than a voile or open weave screen fabric. Opaque privacy and blackout fabrics provide discretion day or night.

Are roller blinds any good?

If your primary consideration is having the greatest possible selection of colours and being able to choose from patterns and designs as well, roller blinds will almost always be the victor on that front. All of this is coupled with different levels of opacity - meaning that in addition to choosing a style to suit your decor, you can also select from a spectrum of shading capabilities, ranging from fabrics that let in natural light, to more opaque fabrics, which diffuse, dim out, or block out light.

Is it hard to install roller blinds?

No, installing roller blinds is really simple. All you need is a drill, a screwdriver, pull cord, wall plugs, a step ladder, a pencil, a metal tape measure, and around 30 minutes to complete the task. Installing a roller blind is a simple matter of screw-fixing two brackets, one at each end of the recess, and locating the blind within these brackets.

Why do my roller blinds keep falling down?

A roller blind fabric slipping down from top to bottom, for spring operated blinds, can indicate that the roller's internal spring is not twisted tightly enough to provide the tension necessary to raise the shade and support it once it has been lifted. For chain operated blinds, it can mean that the incorrect strength of the mechanism has been used to support the weight of the blind.

What is a pelmet on a roller blind?

The brackets and roller hardware are concealed by a pelmet, which is an optional aesthetic addition. The pelmet is made of metal that has been powder coated and comes in a variety of colours to match your windows or doors.

Are UPVC windows with built-in blinds available?

Yes, UPVC windows with built-in blinds are available. These windows have blinds that are integrated into the window frame. This can be a good option for people who want a clean and modern look for their windows. UPVC windows with built-in blinds are a popular choice for new construction and renovations. If you are looking for a blind that appears to be built-in, without changing your windows, then consider Perfect Fit or Intu blinds, which clip it directly to the window frame. Once installed they appear to be an integral part of the window.

Can you fit blinds to UPVC windows?

Yes, you can fit blinds to UPVC windows - screw fixing into the top of recess or face fixing around the recess. There are also a variety of blinds that can be clip fitted without drilling to UPVC windows, including Perfect Fit and INTU which are available as Roller blinds, Venetian blinds, and Pleated blinds.

At newblinds.co.uk, child safety is of paramount importance. If left hanging freely, chains and cords from blinds can pose a direct threat to children. For this reason, we are working towards all of our products being cord-less or chain-free and therefore “safe by design”.
Where it is not yet feasible to supply a product that is “safe by design”, we ensure that the product is fully compliant with Child Safety legislation. Not only do we ensure that, where necessary, our products are supplied/fitted with child safety cleats/devices, but we also
supply, free of charge, these items to our previous customers.
