As an automated blinds expert, I've been here many times before. Lovely big patio or bi-fold doors need lovely big blinds. You don't want to interupt the flow of the expanse of glass by introducing multiple blinds accross a single span. And of course, because it's newly refurbished with all smart tech elsewhere in the house - Alexa, Hive, Phillips Hue, the client would like electric blinds. Perfect, but for an expanse this wide you would need mains powered blinds, right?  It used to be a common issue that at the end of a refurb project, customers would look at their wide windows, consider blinds, and then realise after discussing with an blind automation expert that they hadn't planned in any mains power or cabling to the window recess. This used to be a real issue, which could only be over come by breaking down a span of say 3 metres width, to a couple of blinds. Or if that span was made up of multiple panes, then 3 x 1 metre wide windows. It always turned out fine in the end. Automated blinds, regardless of the configuration provide that "wow" factor to finish off any home refurbishment.  But now we have a motor available which solves this problem. Dear Customers and Friends, I hope you are all keeping well and staying safe. I'd just like to update you all on how things have been going at Newblinds.co.uk, and what our customers can expect now that the lock-down is starting to be eased. Whilst we were told to "Stay Home"... During the global COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent lock down, we have continued to operate and fullfill orders as best we can. Although we closed our factory and offices, we've been running with a skelton staffing working from home, answering calls and emails from spare rooms and kitchen tables; sampling, fabricating and dispatching from home workshops and garages.  We've continued to manufacture and dispatch fly screens, although lead times have been longer than promised and expected due to reduced staffing and delays with materials incoming from suppliers in the EU. If you have experienced a delay with your product, we can only apologise. As advertised, the majority of our made-to-measure blind production had ceased due to factory and supplier closures. Since we've been told to "Stay Alert"... Thankfully, production has resumed on the majority of our products. We do have a significant backlog of orders, but we are working hard to clear these as soon as possible and get back on track and to reasonable lead times. We expect manually operated blinds and fly screens to be the first products to have the backlog cleared, followed by automated blinds.

Dear Customers, We are experiencing some delays with manufacture and dispatch of window blinds due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Window Blinds Some of our regular material suppliers and suppliers of finished blinds closed their warehouses and workshops on the announcement of the initial 3 week period of lock down restrictions. Other suppliers are operating using much reduced staffing.  Update - On the 16th April, the UK goverment extended lock down restrictions by a further 3 weeks. It is likely that this will cause continued delays on these products.  If you require blinds urgently, then please contact [email protected] to check the status of the product that you wish to order.  Fly screens The majority of our fly screen products are still being fullfilled according to the lead times displayed on the product pages. As a titan of the ecommerce and technology world - you can't help but take Amazon seriously with this venture into home control, and artificial inteligence. It's a voice activated speaker-come-home-control hub which not only plays music from your favourite music apps, but integrates and controls other devices and services from the "Internet of Things" - Philips Hue, Hive, Netatmo, Nest, tado°, Uber to name a few. With the rise of home automation, using Amazon Alexa as a smart blind opener has become increasingly popular. We're being asked rather a lot at the moment if it's possible to control our blinds using Smartthings by Samsung. Smartthings is a low(ish) cost home control system that is possible to configure yourself to control a number of compatible devices within the home. It is exclusively distributed through Amazon and Currys/PC World. It uses z-wave technology, but doesn't appear to support a great number of other products "out of the box". Therein lies the problem!

One of the latest additions to our product range are the new Harrier Easy Fit disposable cubicle curtains, an innovation aimed at slashing curtain replacement times by up to 80%, and therefore reducing costs. The key difference between standard disposable cubicle curtains with eyelets and the new Easy Fit disposable cubicle curtain, is the “Easy load glider” – which as you will see from the image below is a hanger that is built into the curtain and is used as an alternative to cubicle curtain hooks. The Easy load glider, loads directly into the Curtain Hook Removal point – which are now a standard feature of many cubicle tracking systems. The Movatrack system is a perfect example of this.

I guess, like many people, eleven years ago I had no idea of the importance in the World's economic merry-go-round of a product that existed to keep flies out of a room. Out of your kitchen, out of your house, out of your life. Of course I had seen the old swinging screen insect screen doors on American movies.
