A VELUX window fly screen is a type of insect screen designed specifically for VELUX roof windows. The screen is made of a fine mesh material that keeps out flies, mosquitoes, and other flying insects while still allowing air to circulate. VELUX window fly screens are available in a range of sizes to fit different window models and sizes.
Most blinds for VELUX windows fit directly to the window itself up against the glass. VELUX window fly screens are different, because a fly screen, of course needs to cover the window opening rather than just covering the glass! They are still relatively simple to install, but require a bit more drilling and screwing. Whether you select a Genuine VELUX fly screen or one of our pleated blackout blind + fly screens, the fly screen is fitted around the recess of the window, which will allow the window to be open and for the fly screen to be pulled down. Our own screens are one-size only, and screens are supplied with instructions which illustrate the process of measuring, any trimming required and installation. Our own fly screen + blackout blind can be installed at any brand of loft window.
Using a VELUX insect screen can provide a number of benefits such as preventing insects from entering your home, improving indoor air quality by allowing fresh air to circulate, and reducing the need for harsh chemical insect repellents. VELUX insect screens also help keep the interior of your home clean and hygienic, as they prevent debris and dust from entering as well.
To clean your VELUX insect screen, simply remove it from the window and use a soft brush or cloth to remove any dirt or debris. For more stubborn stains, you can use a mild detergent and warm water. Be sure to rinse the screen thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before re-installing it. When cleaning our own-brand fly screen + blackout blind, take care with the blackout fabric, this should only be cleaned gently with a soft brush or gently vacuumed with the brush nozzle of your hoover.
Yes, you can leave your VELUX insect screen in place all year round. The screen is designed to be durable and weather-resistant, so it can withstand the elements without becoming damaged. However, it's a good idea to remove the screen for cleaning periodically to keep it in good condition.
The pleated fly screens 2 in 1 pleated blind and flyscreen for the roof windows is a versatile solution that offers both insect protection and light control. This product conveniently combines a blind and a flyscreen in one system, providing a practical and stylish solution for your window. With the integrated flyscreen, you can keep your windows open during summer without worrying about bugs entering your home. This is a DIY kit that once made up to size, face fixes to the wall around the window. When closed however if the recess depth around the window is very shallow this may hinder the amount your window can pivot open.
The Velux blinds we make for roof windows do not have the fly screen but all offer a blackout solution on the window, they are designed to fit to the contours of the window and move with the window so they do not obstruct or restrict the window being able to fully open.
